Julia Moebius has worked in the office for almost 10 years. She has worked as a substitute for the Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper, as Program Support for our Youth, Christian Education, and Worship committees, Administrative Assistant for our Designated Associate Pastor, support for the pastor's dissertation work, and now is the voice you hear when you call. 

Julia has sung in the choir for many years, served on the E.C.H.O. Board  and has served on the Worship committee. Before they moved to Janesville, Julia was a City Planner for the City of Milwaukee, a Subway store owner, and worked at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake. She and her husband Scott have two daughters, a son-in-law and two grandsons. She likes to play with her grandsons, walk, play golf, quilt, and laugh with friends.


Carol Sauer has been the bookkeeper at Rock Prairie Church for the past twenty five years. Before becoming a paid employee, she was a member of the volunteer secretarial pool until RPC hired its first secretary.

During her time at RPC she has been part of many committees and groups: Communication committee, Memorial Fund, Stained Class Committee, Finance Committee,Memorial Garden Committee. She was a chaperone on two Youth Caravan and also went on a H.O.P.E. mission trip. She has also been part of various women's activities including the "Christmas on the Prairie" bazaar , Women's Retreat, and Sunset Circle.

Carol and her husband, Tim, have been members at RPC since 1975. Their family includes two sons and daughters -in-law and three grandsons.

Music Staff

Christopher A. Smith is Director of Music at Rock Prairie. He brings to this position more than a decade of collective experience as a professional singer, music educator, and arts administrator. A Classically-trained tenor, Christopher continues to perform lead roles and solos with opera companies, symphony orchestras, and in concert venues throughout New York, New England, and the Midwest, and he is featured on more than dozen different recordings distributed internationally. As a teacher, Christopher is a two-time consecutive recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award from

President Barack Obama, a full member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing,

licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and has taught voice/music since the early 2000s: privately and in schools and colleges across Massachusetts. As an arts administrator, Christopher has held more than a dozen senior management positions in the music industry on both the business and artistic sides. Most recently, he served as General Director of the Boston Metropolitan Opera, Interim Director of the Boston-International Contempo Festival, and Chief Executive for the Biographics Consulting Group, in addition to other previous positions.  

Outside of Rock Prairie, Christopher is also the Music Director of the Badger Chordhawks Chorus and Director of the Youth Choirs of Southern Wisconsin. He holds degrees in vocal performance from Wartburg College (Bachelor’s) and the New England Conservatory (Master’s).


Sylvia O'Connor is the organist and pianist at Rock Prairie. She also plays her harp and french horn at church. Sylvia sang in our church choir for over twenty years.

Sylvia is a retired teacher-librarian who has served in Illinois, Washington , Germany, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin. She is a lifeguard at the local YMCA. Her grown daughter lives in Milwaukee. Sylvia grew up on a beef cattle farm on the Central Illinois prairie, so she is right at home at Rock Prairie.
